Portrait of Charles Tunnicliffe

In 1981, the contents of the artist's studio was purchased by Isle of Anglesey County Council. This collection includes his drawings - over 300 detailed studies of birds and animals, most drawn from specimens obtained from Anglesey.

Oriel Môn also cares for the artist's sketchbook collection - 52 volumes full of incredible wildlife, landscape and architectural studies.

The collection forms the basis of the Charles F. Tunnicliffe exhibition programme.

Charles F. Tunnicliffe moved from his native Cheshire to Anglesey in 1947 and made the island his home. Having received a formal fine art training at London's prestigious Royal College of Art, he became one of Britain's best loved wildlife artists and illustrators, as well as a successful member of the Royal Academy.
