The Massey Sisters
Gwenddolen (1864 – 1960) and Edith Massey (1863 – 1946) were two sisters living at Cornelyn Mansion on Anglesey during the late 19th century, early 20th century.
Together they have created a beautiful and accurate collection of the botany of the island.
Edith would gather the plant specimens and Gwenddolen was the artist. They travelled extensively around the island to ensure that they captured the unique botanical features.
The sisters produced over 500 sketches in total. Oriel Môn is fortunate to have an extensive set of their sketchbooks.
