Kate Philbin

Biography

I’m from the North of England and have lived in Eryri since 2019. I completed a degree in Psychology, working for more than 20 years in youth and family services, before starting an online MA in illustration with Falmouth University in 2022. The work is an autoethnographic exploration of perimenopause. Using tracing paper, I explore the metaphorical layers of cognitive processing and the frustration of not being able to find the right words due to brain fog. The layers also convey a sense of confusion and detachment – a sense of alienness in my own body.
