Drawing can be a wonderful way of responding to ‘place’ – quick, spontaneous and direct. The immediacy of this approach inevitably captures special qualities of rhythm and form.

‘Meeting Place’ is such a recording – showing the meeting of the land with the sea, the wild cliff path with farmland, the clustering together of hill forms and, just behind me, although outside of the composition, a small medieval church – the meeting place of the title.
