Biography
No matter what I’m doing with my time, art is at the foreground of my mind; constantly looking and observing textures, tones, shapes, shadows and lighting – particularly when walking my dog out on our hills around Eryri. In recent years, despite having difficulty with my mental health, drawing and creating has been a savior and a comfort, helping me to find grounding and bring a form of meditation into my life.
Drawing sections of stone walls is something I have always come back to – there is something about them I can’t seem to let go of. What initially drew me to the walls is how much they replicate ridge lines, the rugged edges of our mountains and how they are quite often built on ridiculously steep and what seem like impossible crags. They are a sort of traditional landmark of Wales, some of them steeped in history and to me they are just as iconic as the mountains and rivers around us.
