In all of my art, I find inspiration in ‘real life’ and how the world around is constantly changing. I aim to draw what I see. I like the rawness of being able to capture a moment as it is, unaltered. I enjoy creating monochrome pieces, to express the contrast of a piece, leaving room for the imagination to fill in colours.

For this piece, the inspiration was to create a personal piece that reflects my surroundings, creating a portrait of Merlin, the cockerel who lives in my back garden. A twist on the more traditional human portraiture.
